Clearing House Automated Payment System (CHAPS) is a real time Gross Settlement System used for Payment Transfer in United Kingdom. Chaps payments are initiated by the payer Banks to transfer payment to payee's Bank. CHAPS transactions are credited same day to the Payee's Account. CHAPS services are available to the customers from 06.00 to 16.20 from Monday to Friday, excluding Holidays

Payer Bank can also reject the Cheque presented by Payee's Bank, for signature of the Payee not matching as per Bank Record or if there is any overwritting on the Cheque.
